Meet the performers: The London Duo welcomes to you, former Principal Harpist of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Iona Duncan. Living in London, Iona is currently studying a Performance Degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the training of renowned harpist Gabriella Dall'Olio. Aged 21, Iona has enjoyed a thriving early career. Learning with Keziah Thomas from the age of 5, Iona began to play with the Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of this early career was touring the G.F. Handel Harp Concerto through Europe with the BYSO. Iona went on to win the BYSO Norman Trotman Prize before moving onto conservatoire studies. 🌸 Having studied at London's renowned BRIT School for Performing Arts, Iona enjoys a varied palette of musical styles. Iona has a passion for musical theatre as has played in two London West-End production runs of the LMTO's `A Christmas Carol` at the Lyceum and `Ragtime The Musical` at London's Bridewell. Iona also played during the 2019 season as resident harpist at the Royal Horseguards Hotel and regularly performs during afternoon tea at the London Sofitel Hotel. During Lockdown, Iona has created some fantastic remote works, recently played for the BBC Scottish players in their remote recording of 'The Swan'. Iona also enjoys playing and teaching the piano and getting active with running and cycling. Iona is very excited about the formation of The London Duo and for performance opportunities following the COVID-19 Pandemic. Bethany is a flautist and pianist based in South London.
